| No Rinse Soap and Shampoo |
Most caregivers tend to think that it takes a lot of soap and water to get a person clean. But no-rinse liquid soaps, shampoos, or towelettes work just as effectively or better than traditional soap products. No-rinse products have been used in hospitals and in nursing homes with excellent results. For the person who dislikes traditional bathing methods, this is an excellent bathing option. No-rinse products are gentle on the skin; many contain both a cleaning and moisturizing agent, important for aging skin. For more information, see our Product Info section.

| When Nothing Works |
If the person still resists your help, consider the following 3 tips:
- Hire an aide or ask another family member to try. This has worked for other caregivers in situations similar to yours. Sometimes they will be more willing to bathe with a different person.
- Use a daycare that assists with bathing. If the person qualifies, the services may be covered by Medicaid. Contact your local Alzheimer's Association for more information.
- Visit the person's doctor for a "bathing prescription." Sometimes a health care professional's encouragement, especially in written form, can reduce a person's resistance to bathing.
